What Is a Health & Wellness Coach & Why Do You Need One?

You may have been hearing more and more lately about health and wellness coaches (possibly even from me!). They may be a part of your health insurance program or you may even work with one in your doctor’s office or gym. The field of health and wellness coaching has continued to grow as people begin to come back to the idea that they are in charge of their health.

You may be wondering, what is a health and wellness coach and why do I need one? Health and wellness coaches help their clients make positive and sustainable changes in their lives. They listen to their client’s goals and  guide them through the process of creating a vision for their health and well-being. They focus on helping their clients develop a healthy mindset and healthy habits. Coaches encourage their clients and are their accountability partner as they accomplish their goals.

Health and wellness coaches can help clients work with creating:

  • healthy eating habits

  • sustainable exercise habits

  • better sleep habits

  • a deeper mind-body connection

  • healthier relationships

  • work / life balance

  • career goals

  • tools to manage stress

  • and much more!

Most of us have tried to create healthy and sustainable habits on multiple occasions. Some people are quick to find success and stick with it. More often than not though, we lose sight of our goals and success eludes us. We end up in a cycle of shame, blame, and frustration. Health and wellness coaches are your accountability partner. Even when you lose sight of the goal or get tired in the process of reaching it, your coach will keep you on track and help keep you inspired. They never give up on you, even when you’ve given up on yourself. Health and wellness coaches provide continuous support without judgement.

Are you wondering if a health and wellness coach is right for you? Ask yourself a few questions:

  • Do you focus on what you do wrong rather than what you do right?

  • Are your needs the last on the list if they make the list at all?

  • Are you lacking in energy and motivation?

  • Are you ready  to make change but don’t know where to start?

  • Have you tried to change certain habits in the past but haven’t been successful?

  • Does having an accountability partner help you accomplish your goals?

If you answered yes to even one of these questions then a health & wellness coach would be a great fit for you.
